Before Death

If the boat sinks on the river’s edge, breaks its mast,

Let it drift, amidst the crowd of ships;

If the blue sky turns black, covered by clouds,

Stand holding an umbrella, leaving all tasks;

If the written fades away, carried by the wind,

Write it with your own hands, using henna ink;

If the lamp of the evening dims, the moon sets,

Light a clay lamp, across the long pond;

If someday I get lost, in a distant unknown land,

Love me still, floating on a cloud chariot;

If you see I’m no more, not in this world,

Forget me, in dreams or in reality!
